Does AI know when you will die?

Answer: There’s a bot that claims to.

A group of Danish researchers in December revealed that they had developed an artificial intelligence chatbot that can theoretically predict when people will die. The team explains the bot, called life2vec, and how it works in detail on the life2vec website, but use of the bot itself is not available to the public.

The Internet, however, is not happy about that and loves a chance to capitalize on, well, anything. Therefore, a number of fake entities have sprung up online that claim to use life2vec, and people are falling for it. In fact, these fakes have become so prominent that life2vec’s creators had to issue warnings on the real life2vec website.

“We are aware of social media accounts and at least one fraudulent website claiming to be associated with the life2vec model,” the website says. “We are not affiliated with these or any other entities that claim to use our technology.” Guess it’s back to the human psychics to try to learn your fate.
