AT&T has good news for its customers who were affected by the widespread outage last week. The company will be giving everyone affected a credit equal to the average cost of one day of service on their next bill.

That adds up to $5 per customer, and roughly 75,000 people were affected. Users should be credited automatically on their next billing statement. “We want to reassure our customers of our commitment to reliably connect them — anytime and anywhere,” AT&T said in a Feb. 24 announcement titled “Making it right.”

The outage occurred on Feb. 22 at about 4 a.m. ET and service was fully restored by 3:10 p.m. ET. While there was speculation that the outage had been caused by a cyber attack, AT&T reported that this was fortunately not the case. According to the company, the outage was caused by “the application and execution of an incorrect process used while working to expand our network.”
