Last fall, Ring launched a new feature to help reunite lost dogs with their humans. Ring says the AI-powered feature, Search Party, has helped at least one dog per day find its way back home. Now, Ring is hoping to help even more pets get home safely by expanding access to Search Party.
The feature was previously only available to Ring users, but now, anyone can download Ring’s Neighbors app and put out an alert if their furry friend goes missing. All the Ring cameras in the neighborhood will then alert their respective owners if an animal that potentially matches the description of the one missing is caught on its feed. If a potential match is spotted, the camera’s owner will get a notification and be able to review the footage and see an image of the missing pet. They’ll have the option to call or text the pet’s human, anonymously if they so choose, and even share the footage if they want.
“Now, pet owners can mobilize the whole community — and communities are empowered to help — to find lost pets more effectively than ever before,” said Ring Chief Inventor Jamie Siminoff. “That’s why we believe it’s so important to make this feature available to anyone who shares a lost dog post in Neighbors.”
