That’s almost a 10 percent increase from last year. Quinnipiac University just released a new poll that took Americans’ temperature on artificial intelligence, and the results show people’s opinions are a bit frosty.
A full 70 percent of respondents said they thought that advancements in AI will lead to a general decrease in job opportunities. Americans’ concerns about AI’s impact on other areas were equally strong. Sixty-five percent answered that they would oppose the building of a data center in their community for powering AI. When asked about regulations, 74 percent said they believe government isn’t doing enough to regulate AI technology. And 55 percent said they believe artificial intelligence will do more harm than good in their daily lives.
