NYC311 Call Center Representative Donovan Nesbeth-Lauderdale probably didn’t know when he reported to work last week that he would be making history. But at 9:26 a.m. on June 14, the three-year veteran off the call center did just that by taking the agency’s 500 millionth call.

NYC311 launched just over 19 years ago as a resource for residents to obtain city government information and non-emergency services. Its staffers field calls for information on a variety of topics including how to schedule an appointment for obtaining an IDNYC Municipal ID Card, which was the subject of Nesbeth-Lauderdale’s milestone call.

“I’m honored and excited that I got the milestone call,” he said. “Taking it made me realize how much we do here and really brings the meaning of our work into focus. Serving the public is important and brings me a lot of satisfaction.”
