It also produces regular drinking water, no plumbing hookup required.
Currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, the Kara Pod device promises to make getting water as easy as pulling it from the air. The device pulls in the air around it and then extracts the water from that air before treating it with UV sterilization, carbon filtration and mineralization. Then it’s ready to drink straight from the machine, or brew into a nice cup of joe.
The device is compatible with Nespresso pods for making coffee, and you can select from a range of cup sizes, coffee strengths, etc. It can produce about a gallon of water per day to keep its 0.85 gallon tank full, and there’s an LED water gauge to keep you informed of its water creation progress. Its designers estimate users will save about $1,464 on drinking water per year, as well as eliminating waste if they use a lot of single-use plastic bottles.
