Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last week, you’ve probably heard all the hype about the debut of the fourth season of “Stranger Things.” Probably one of the most popular TV shows Netflix has created to date, viewers worldwide were very excited for the new season after waiting three years for it.

As it turns out, that hype was not underestimated. The new season dropped on Friday, May 27, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. By the end of said weekend, Netflix customers around the world together streamed 286.8 million hours’ worth of it. That’s the most viewing hours of a single show on the platform since the popularity of “Squid Game” back in September, when that show garnered 571.8 million hours in one week.

By comparison, the next show on the list for this week, “The Lincoln Lawyer: Season 1,” only saw 64.82 million collective viewing hours. Seasons 1-3 of “Stranger Things” rounded out the top five, guess everyone was getting caught up for the new season. And with the second part of season 4 still to come later this summer, we’ll probably be looking at similar numbers again before too long.
