When Karen Green was gifted a brand-new iPhone 15 years ago, she was less than thrilled. When the first iPhones were launched in 2007, they could only be used on AT&T’s network. As a Verizon customer, Green couldn’t use her new iPhone, so she didn’t even bother to open it.

Today, however, her sentiments have certainly changed. Green’s unopened first-generation iPhone recently sold at auction for a whopping $63,356.40. That’s 10,477 percent more than the $599 it would have gone for in 2007. It was the highest value item at the auction, held by LCG Auction. The next highest, a 1978 Canadian Boba Fett action figure, didn’t even come close at $22,206. Green said she will use the money from the auction to fund her business.
