How much do people love this podcast hosted by AI dogs?

Answer: A lot.

It started as just a marketing gimmick, but it turns out people enjoy the idea of canines hosting a podcast. The creators of DogPack, a social app for dog owners, were trying to encourage more people to download their app when they started uploading short videos to Instagram of two AI-generated dogs hosting a podcast.

They now have more than 1 million followers and just signed with talent agency WME. The videos are only a few minutes long and feature a golden retriever named Goldie and a French bulldog named Frenchie. They started with just telling jokes, but as they’ve gained viewers their messages have broadened to things like promoting rescue dogs looking for new homes. The marketing approach certainly worked, with the DogPack app now boasting 2 million users in 20 countries.

The videos themselves are made on Google Veo 3 with a prompt that has a script and step-by-step instructions for the visuals. Since Veo only makes eight-second videos at a time, the team has to create multiple videos and then stitch them together with editing tools to create the final product. “Our talking dogs and podcast worlds are clearly fantastical, created to entertain, not mislead,” said Dov Punski, one of the four brothers behind the company. “AI helps us bring those imaginative ideas to life faster and at scale, while we stay in full control of the tone, authenticity and warmth that define DogPack.”
