The Future Human Washing Machine does exactly what its name suggests — all you have to do is climb in. Displayed at Expo 2025 Osaka, the device is an upgraded version of one conceptualized in 1970. That machine, which was shown off at the 1970 Osaka Expo, used ultrasound technology, but it never made it to production.

The modern version uses bubbles instead. The lower part of the body is submerged in microbubbles about 3/1000 of a millimeter wide, while the upper body gets even finer bubbles at 1/10,000 of a millimeter. These bubbles remove dirt, oil and odors from the skin and pores, all while you sit back and relax. A sensor in the backrest monitors your heart rate and shows the results on a screen in front of you. Once you’re clean, the water drains on its own and then the machine blasts you with air until you’re nice and dry. The entire process takes just 15 minutes from start to finish.
