Is 5G causing vaccinated people to spontaneously combust?

Answer: No, not even a little.

5G just can’t catch a break right now. As the result of a contentious ongoing debate, major wireless carriers recently agreed to temporarily pause their rollout of new 5G service, but that’s not the only reason the technology is making headlines. According toMashable, there’s a rumor circulating on the interwebs that 5G is causing people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to spontaneously combust.

The rumor appears to involve videos circulating online of protestors being hit at close range with tear gas rounds in Iraq in 2019. Those rounds are lethal at close range, causing the victims to look like their heads have combusted. Some conspiracy theorists have been spreading the videos on social media recently, saying that they are of vaccinated people who are spontaneously combusting due to 5G being “turned up.”

To be clear, 5G isn’t getting “turned up” anywhere (that’s not how it works). And the technology has been around for years without causing anyone’s heads to explode. And being vaccinated does not make you susceptible to spontaneous combustion via 5G.
