Is Tesla still planning to sue people for reselling their Cybertruck?

Answer: Apparently not anymore.

After the news broke Monday that Tesla was planning to sue buyers of its Cybertruck who tried to resell it during their first year of ownership, the electric carmaker appears to have backtracked.

The resale clause was found in the “For Cybertruck Only” section of the Tesla Motor Vehicle Order Agreement and stipulated that the company could sue owners for at least $50,000 if they tried to sell their vehicle within the first year of ownership, unless they sold it back to Tesla, and bar them from purchasing Tesla vehicles ever again. Many speculated that this was an attempt to prevent the resale market from affecting Tesla’s profits from a vehicle that has had a less-than-smooth road to production.

However, as of Tuesday morning that clause appears to have been removed from the order agreement. Tesla did not announce the change, and as of midday Tuesday, had not responded to requests for comment.
