Is there an app that will warn you before the jump scare in a movie?

Answer: Yes!

There are quite a few movie and TV tracking apps out there these days, but this might be the first one that can alert you to a movie’s jump scares before they happen. Binge uses Apple’s Live Activities feature to track your progress through a production in real time and give you a heads up if you don’t want to be too startled.

This means you will need an Apple product to take advantage of the feature. To activate it, users will have to navigate to Binge’s jump scares detail page and start the live activity for their chosen film as they begin watching it. There is also an option to filter the alerts for only the “major” scares.

Binge offers some other unique features to distinguish itself from the competition, like details about post-credit scenes, awards timelines, integrations with other tracking apps and more. The app is free to download for iPhone, iPad and Mac, but you’ll need to pay for premium features like the jump scare warnings.
