What automaker's headlights has stumped the National Highway Transportation Administration?

Answer: Audi

Audi has built the matrix beam LED headlamps, which many consider to be a better automotive lighting system. These headlights, according to ExtremeTech, promise better, more precise lighting for the driver, less blinding light to dazzle oncoming cars, and a kind of mid-beams for roads with only a little traffic.

Though the Matrix technology is ready to go on the 2013 Audi A8 luxury sedan, the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTA) was stumped -- unsure of how the matrix headlamp array fits into their low and high beam categories.

And with other auto manufacturers working on similar technology, the NHTA will likely have to figure out how to categorize it.
