The finding came from nearly 2,300 phone interviews in April and May for a survey released Monday, July 11, by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
For the purpose of the study, a smartphone owner was identified as someone who said their phone is a smartphone or said their phone operates on a smartphone platform such as iPhones and Blackberry devices, and phones running the Android, Windows or Palm operating systems.
"When asked what device they normally use to access the Internet, 25 percent of smartphone owners say that they mostly go online using their phone, rather than with a computer," the survey found.
