Beyond the negative reviews and user rants that are abundant on the interwebs, a somewhat recent report from IDC notes that the Apple Watch — which is the most popular smartwatch out there — saw a 71.6 percent drop in sales over 2015.
Add to this the fact that the first smartwatch company out there, called Pebble, sold all of its assets to Fitbit just last week — which is fitting given that those who tend to find smartwatches most useful are those who use them to focus on health and fitness, according to IDC.
