If you own a high-end or luxury vehicle, you may want to double check your car for Apple AirTags before you drive home. Apparently, car thieves have found a way to turn the devices into useful assistants for their nefarious exploits.
In just the last few months, York Regional Police in Canada reported that they have investigated five incidents in which high-end cars were stolen with the help of AirTags. In each case, the thieves reportedly placed an AirTag on an “out-of-sight” area of the vehicle while it was parked out in public and the owner was away from it. They then tracked the AirTag’s location and, once the owner had parked at home, broke into the vehicle and stole it.
