Much of the music world was in turmoil yesterday when one of the most popular listening platforms, Spotify, experienced a significant outage. The problems reportedly began around 8:45 a.m. ET, and per Downdetector, the outage peaked about an hour later with 49,000 incidents reported.

Users on social media noted that they were still able to play any music they had downloaded, they just couldn’t search for or stream anything. The outage was resolved after about four hours. While there’s been no official word on the cause, Spotify did announce that the rumors that it was the result of a hack were “false.”
