In January, a person in a Waymo robotaxi successfully robbed a San Francisco yoga studio and still has not been caught. Per Hot 8 Yoga’s security footage, the individual took a Waymo ride to the studio, went in and stole a bunch of yoga clothes, then left in the same vehicle.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a search warrant was filed in April for Waymo’s ride footage of the incident. However, Waymo does not store ride footage indefinitely and it was gone by the time the warrant was issued. There was still footage from the car’s exterior cameras, but it had been “blurred for privacy reasons” and police were unable to identify a suspect.
