What did Amazon workers do during last week’s AWS outage?

Answer: A lot of fun things other than work.

Amazon Web Services went down for hours last week, but it wasn’t just Amazon customers and users who were affected. Many employees at the e-commerce giant’s warehouses were unable to do any work, since anything requiring a computer was reportedly down. But they certainly made the best of it, as revealed in many a TikTok video with the hashtag #Amazondown.

“What we were doing while amazon servers were down today for 6 hours.. lots of dancing and karaoke,” one worker said, posting a video of workers inside a warehouse doing a dance number. In another location, employees found a new use for all the shipping boxes they were unable to fill, building a full robotic suit. Another group took the fun outside with a game of baseball in the parking lot.

These employees work pretty hard, especially this time of year, so some fun time at work was well deserved.
