What substance is banned from Super Bowl advertising?
Answer: Marijuana.

Despite its ever-increasing popularity for recreational (as well as medical) use, cannabis is still something we apparently can’t talk about on a national stage. Weedmaps, which helps users locate marijuana dispensaries online, told The Verge that it asked about getting an ad during this year’s Super Bowl, but the answer “was a blanket ‘no.’”
Contrary to its growing legalization at the state and local level, marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so it is banned from the big screen during this weekend’s big game. When asked if some cannabis companies might be able to run ads locally where the substance is legalized, National Football League spokesperson Alex Riethmiller said no because “it’s currently a prohibited category.”
