The foot-powered Cozy Coupe from Little Tikes was the first vehicle for many a toddler and has been a childhood staple in plenty of American households. Per Car and Driver, it was even the best-selling car in the U.S. in 1991 with 500,000 units produced. But the red-and-yellow plastic car has always been modeled after gas-powered vehicles. The latest edition to its lineup of accessories, however, makes it in a certain sense the cheapest new electric vehicle on the market.
Cozy Coupe owners have for years been able to purchase an accompanying gas pump for their vehicles, but now you can opt for an EV charger instead. The Cozy E-Charging Station comes with lights, a “Power-Up Button” and makes sounds like a modern EV, though you’ll ironically need a few AA batteries to power it. The company’s goal is to bring “modern-day realism to classic Cozy Coupe adventures, letting kids experience the excitement of ‘powering up’ before they zoom off on their next journey.”
