Web performance and security company Cloudflare just released its rankings for Internet traffic in 2021, and TikTok came out on top. The video-sharing platform has seen escalating popularity recently, going from a place for teens to share dance moves to a hub for all kinds of information. People of all demographics now tune into TikTok for cooking videos, spirituality content and more.
And brands have taken notice, with retailers now seeing the platform as a “holy grail of marketing,” particularly for younger generations and cord cutters. “The growth that we’ve seen is insane,” said Krishna Subramanian, a founder of the influencer marketing firm Captiv8. “Brands have moved from just testing out TikTok to making it a budget line item or creating dedicated campaigns for TikTok specifically.”
