Google Pixel phones apparently have a real problem with Alien. According to the interwebs, they’ll automatically reboot if you attempt to use them to watch this clip from the popular 1979 film.

The issue reportedly affects the Pixel 6, 6a and 7, and is instantaneous — the device will reboot before it can even load a frame. Additionally, some users are reporting that their cell service wouldn’t work after the reboot and they had to do another one to put the phone fully back in order.

So what do these phones have against Alien anyway? No one has figured it out for sure yet, but the current popular theory is that it has something to do with the video’s format. But it seems Google may already have issued a fix, as Ars Technica journalists reported that their Pixel 7 Pro can now play the video.
