Drones have been playing an important role in Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. One of them is helping Russian soldiers surrender.

The Ukrainian army on Monday released an instructional video for Russian soldiers on how to properly surrender to a Ukrainian drone. Narrated in Russian, the video is a product of Ukraine’s “I Want to Live” initiative, created in September to help Russian soldiers who want to surrender.

First, according to the video, the soldiers will need to use the I Want to Live hotline in order to set up a meeting with the drone to surrender. The video then shows three soldiers performing the necessary steps. It instructs them to first make eye contact with the drone when it arrives and raise their hands. The drone will then guide them at walking speed to the nearest Ukrainian army representatives.

The video also informs them that in the event the drone runs low on battery, they are to wait where they are while the old one returns to base and a fully charged one replaces it. And it demonstrates what to do once they reach their destination and meet with Ukrainian forces.
