Hollywood would tell us this is a bad idea, but people are doing it anyway. Sensay, which creates AI-powered digital replicas of actual people, is using its technology to establish a government that will be run entirely by AI. The new government will be in charge of Sensay Island, formerly Cheron Island, owned by Sensay and located off the coast of the Philippines.

Sensay recently released the list of cabinet members, headed by Head of State Marcus Aurelius. One of The Five Good Emperors of Rome, he was known for his good judgement and love of Stoic philosophy. The rest of the cabinet is filled with historic figures from varying time periods. The role of prime minister goes to Winston Churchill, while Eleanor Roosevelt and Alexander Hamilton will serve as foreign affairs minister and treasury secretary, respectively. TechRadar has the full list.

“Each AI replica is designed to emulate the personality, values, and decision-making patterns of the historical figure it represents, providing a governance style infused with timeless wisdom and ethical principles,” Sensay said. Whether digital individuals from such disparate eras will be able to run a government together remains to be seen.
