Where is there now a bronze statue of RoboCop?

Answer: Detroit.

Robocop.
Fans of the 1987 classic film RoboCop rejoice — after 15 years, there is finally a statue of the movie’s titular character on display in Detroit.

The Michigan city is synonymous with RoboCop, much like New York and Spider-Man or Philadelphia and Rocky Balboa. In 2011, someone on Twitter (now X) suggested that a statue of RoboCop be erected in Detroit to honor this connection. It was a popular idea, with even the film’s star Peter Weller expressing support. The idea quickly faded from the interwebs, but Detroiters kept it alive.

It was hard work, keeping the idea going for a decade and a half, and the Detroit Metro Times has detailed coverage of the journey. It took 10 years for the statue to be created and another five to get it to its permanent home at 3434 Russell Street. But it was well worth the wait.
