Anthropic is making its Claude AI model available to the U.S. federal government for the low price of just $1. The move comes after OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, announced an almost identical offer last week.
Through the deal, employees of all three branches of the federal government will have access to Claude’s commercial tier for $1 for a whole year. This includes Claude for Enterprise as well as Claude for Government, which supports FedRAMP High workloads. That means users will be able to use Claude for sensitive unclassified work.
“As AI adoption leads to transformation across industries, we want to ensure that federal workers can fully harness these capabilities to better serve the American people,” the company said. “By removing cost barriers, we're enabling the government to access the same advanced AI that's already proving its value in the private sector.”
