Answer: China.

Robots have become more and more ubiquitous in factories, but nowhere more so than China. The International Federation of Robotics recently released a report on robots in factories all over the world, which found that the country is far ahead of everyone else in getting robots on the manufacturing floor.

Chinese factories installed nearly 300,000 robots last year, more than every other country combined. The U.S., which comes in third place for the number of robots in its factories, only put in 34,000 in 2024. China currently has five times the number of robots in factories that America does.

China has been on a campaign to put more robots in its factories over the past 10 years, with factories in the country installing more than 150,000 each year since 2017. More and more of these robots are also coming from inside the country. Before 2024, the majority of robots installed in Chinese factories were imported. But last year, nearly three-fifths of the new robots were made domestically.
