Never underestimate the power of Taylor Swift. Apple basically killed off its music-downloading app, iTunes, in 2019 when streaming took over. But the pop star just brought it back from the dead to promote her new album.

“The Life of a Showgirl” will be released next month, which means now is preorder season. Swift has already announced multiple vinyl and CD variants, each with their own cover art, for fans to preorder. Her latest announcement, though, was of a different form of older music tech. Listeners can now preorder an iTunes-exclusive version of the album. In addition to its 12 tracks, the iTunes album comes with a short video called “A Look Behind the Curtain.”

iTunes hasn’t existed as its own entity since streaming killed it six years ago. The store is still available through Apple Music, but the iTunes X account has been silent since 2019. Until now. The account now features a profile image of Swift and a new post announcing the exclusive album.
