Which of the 10 largest retailers hasn’t joined Threads?

Answer: Costco.

Costco is known for big things, but not when it comes to social media. The company has a Twitter account, but it doesn’t use it except to direct users to its other social media accounts (which consist of only Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest). And it has apparently elected to continue that trend by not signing up for the new Twitter competitor from Meta, Threads.

Costco is the only one of the 10 largest retailers that hasn’t set up an account on Threads since it launched last week. And it would be hard to argue that that’s just because they haven’t gotten around to it yet — signing up for Threads is as easy as downloading the app and signing in with your Instagram account.

Costco has 1.3 million followers on Instagram and posts once a day, and its following on Facebook is more than twice that size. Perhaps if Threads takes off in a way that Costco likes, they’ll join up, but for now they seem to be content to sit back and watch.
