Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department Selects Vendor for E-Government Trusted Data Exchange

'Our department is charged with protecting a mass of information ... However, the need to share this information with other agencies has become a high priority.'

The Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) selected Epok Inc., to enable secure data exchange between government agencies, as well as extending the capabilities of E-Gate, the automated entry and exit system at Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates that regulates the process of arrivals and departures.

The system will assist Dubai government agencies in sharing highly sensitive information without relinquishing data control. Epok's TDX platform will also be used to enable the Dubai's E-Gate system to allow a network of E-Gates to share information with one another. These extended capabilities have prompted increased interest and evaluation by cooperating nations for international information exchange.

"Facing the challenge of delivering secure inter-agency data exchange, we found Epok's TDX ideally suited to deliver on the promise of a truly federated solution," said Lt. Col. Khalid Lootah, Head of Information Technology, Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department. "Our department is charged with protecting a mass of information on citizens and travelers. However, the need to share this information with other agencies has become a high priority. Epok has provided us with a unique solution to exchange sensitive information in a federated environment without surrendering strict control."

E-Gate, a Smart Card based system built and maintained by Dubai-based DATEL, is globally recognized for its ability to speed passengers through immigration and Passport Control while strengthening security. Epok's TDX 4.0 provides a platform for the controlled exchange of data between trusted parties. With Epok's TDX, the E-Gate system ensures that passenger information is only shared with proper border authorities and other trusted government agencies. This enables travelers to pass through different E-Gates with only one card, eliminating the need to carry separate ID cards per destination.
