When it comes to privacy and security, governments and private sector entities need to know more than just technical fixes/software and laws and regulations. Today, attorneys, managers, and technical personnel need to work shoulder-to-shoulder to understand a maze of operational, technical, legal, and managerial considerations that feed into the development of an enterprise security program. Too often privacy and security are viewed in isolation and cybercrime is cast aside as a law enforcement issue. Organizations can no longer deal with these critical issues reactively, in an ad hoc, stovepiped approach. The new realities of privacy, security, and cybercrime require a comprehensive, holistic approach.
The event will feature speakers from both industry and government including Howard Schmidt, former White House Cyber Security Advisor; Christopher Painter, Deputy Chief, Computer Crime & Intellectual Property Section, U.S. Department of Justice; Ron Ross, Senior Computer Scientist, NIST; Lee Imrey, Information Security Architect, U.S. Department of Justice; Jim Dempsey, Executive Director & General Counsel, Center for Democracy & Technology; and Rebecca J. Richards, Director, Privacy Compliance, Privacy Office, U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The workshop has been approved for continuing legal education (CLE) credit, and workshop participants will each get a copy of the Roadmap to an Enterprise Security Program, a new book published by the American Bar Association and endorsed by the Global CSO Council. To register, contact Jody R. Westby, PACC Chairperson with the name, title, organization name and telephone number of the individuals who plan to attend, or fax the information to (813) 637-4029.
