Maryland's Spam Deterrence Act was recently passed by the state General Assembly. The new law would prevent individuals, companies or organizations from deceptive bulk e-mail practices such as displaying false addresses, providing misleading subject lines and providing false information to acquire e-mail accounts for e-mail advertising. The law also prevents the unauthorized use of other people's computers for sending out multiple e-mail advertisements.
