New Jersey CIO Named to NASCIO Executive Committee

Charles S. Dawson to serve in new leadership position

New Jersey Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Charles S. Dawson has been
named as a director on the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) executive committee.

"I am honored and privileged to be invited to serve NASCIO in a leadership position," said Dawson. "New Jersey firmly supports and champions the NASCIO agenda and has integrated many of its best practices in our major technical initiatives. I appreciate the opportunity to play a larger role in this valuable organization."

Over the past year, Dawson has served on the NASCIO security and infrastructure committees. Under his leadership, New Jersey has developed and implemented a robust plan to address issues of cyber-security and disaster recovery. The state's major security initiative is a partnership with the U.S. Army to develop a comprehensive intrusion detection system that will identify any unauthorized access to state computer networks.

Dawson, who also leads the state Office of Information Technology, has focused his agenda in the areas of customer service, information sharing, enterprise architecture, IT workforce development, security and accountability. As New Jersey's CTO and acting chief information officer, Dawson sets the agenda for IT in the state and represents New Jersey at the federal, state and local levels.
