New Service Lets E-mail Senders Prove They Aren't Spamming

Company ratings are posted on Internet where users can check the current e-mail privacy ratings for more than 800 prominent organizations

E-mail senders can now reassure potential subscribers and customers that their e-mail addresses will be protected. ReleMail, a new service that audits and certifies e-mail privacy practices, launched today.

ReleMail monitors an organization's e-mail practices and certifies those that meet stringent standards of privacy and professionalism. Rather than relying on anti-spam technologies like DomainKeys or SPF, ReleMail uses a team of e-mail investigators to secretly subscribe to clients' e-mail newsletters and monitor resulting inbound e-mails for adherence to ethical e-mail practices. The results of those investigations are publicly posted at Relemail.com, where Internet users can check the current e-mail privacy ratings for more than 800 prominent organizations.

Organizations that meet all fifteen requirements can display the ReleMail seal on their Web site, reassuring visitors that their e-mail practices are being constantly monitored and rated.

ReleMail was created by e-mail industry veteran Mike Adams, the inventor of the first permission-based e-mail marketing software for the PC, and founder of Arial Software. The service was launched in response to strong customer demand for authentic, trusted certification for e-mail senders. "The industry clearly needs a process through which ethical e-mail senders can establish their reputations with potential subscribers," Adams explains.

Others who have joined ReleMail's advisory board to help shape the service, making sure it meets the needs of both mailers and e-mail recipients, include Debbie Weil of Wordbiz.com, Kim Macpherson of Inbox Interactive, Anne Mitchell of the Institute for Spam and Internet Public Policy (ISIPP), Jeanne Jennings of the Jennings Report, and corporate participants including Jim Diee of The Children's Place and Michael Crowdes from Dirt Devil.
