North Carolina Governor Appoints Four to the Online Voting Commission

New members are Jennifer W. Gullette, Charles Herman Winfree, Harold H. Webb and Glorious U. Fowler

North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley appointed Jennifer W. Gullette, Charles Herman "Chuck" Winfree, Harold H. Webb and Glorious U. Fowler to the Online Voting Commission.

The commission studies the feasibility of a system of online voting for North Carolina elections. It studies the experience of other states, available technology, accessibility and comprehensibility to voters and privacy concerns. There are 19 members on the commission. The governor appoints four.

Gullette is president of the Gullette Group, a public relations firm serving corporate and political clients. She has served as vice chairperson of the N.C. Democratic Party and president of the Charlotte Women's Political Caucus.

Winfree is an attorney with Winfree and Winfree, specializing in employment law, consumer law and domestic relations. He served as a county commissioner from 1994 to 1998, and currently serves on the Guilford County Board of Elections.

Fowler is the owner of GUF Insurance Agency, specializing in home, automobile, commercial and bond insurance. She has served on the Fayetteville Fair Housing Board, Fayetteville Business and Professional League and as treasurer of the Cumberland Regional Improvement Corporation.

Webb retired in 1985. Previously he worked as a teacher and principal in Orange County schools. He also worked for the Department of Public Instruction and served as state personnel director for the N.C. Office of State Personnel.
