Ohio Developing Statewide Cybersecurity Strategy

The program design, expected to be completed in September, will include executive-level requirements, a security training program and a vulnerability assessment strategy

Ohio's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is in the middle of developing a strategy for a state-wide standardized cybersecurity program. The project began in June 2005 with and is expected to be completed in September.

As part of the contract, Haverstick will define executive-level requirements, and establish a security training program, as well as a vulnerability assessment strategy through facilitated workshops.

Confidentiality and security are among the five guiding principles for Ohio's Framework for Digital Government. Haverstick's assessment will help to satisfy one of the many objectives and initiatives that Ohio is addressing as part of a balanced scorecard approach to unify and achieve consensus among senior state leaders. After Haverstick has completed this project, Ohio's state leaders will have a better idea of how to approach a cybersecurity program and protect all aspects of electronic communications and transactions with the government.
