Vigilant Security Management for U.S. Borders

IDGA Summit to address increased activity needs of land, sea and air borders

The border management community has been exceptionally active in recent weeks. The awarding of the SBInet contract, the introduction of new e-passport readers at the San Francisco International Airport and the estimated $1.9 billion of border management dollars added to the DHS budget are only a sampling of recent activities surrounding border security and commerce. These topics and others will be covered at the 2nd Annual Border Management Summit, October 23 -- 25, 2006 at the Ronald Reagan Center in Washington, DC.

"Activity in the sector is only going to increase," states Michael Gallo, Group Director of the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA). "Security is the obvious driver and we must be vigilant to that objective. We must also be cognizant of the trickle-down effects to an increasing number of stakeholders. These stakeholders include the defense and security contractors, manufacturers who need to ship and receive product from outside of the US, and services that rely on legal staff residing outside of the US."

IDGA's 2nd Annual Border Management Summit will provide a forum where stakeholders will come together and discuss current issues as well as future needs. Three conference tracks are segmented to address the policies, procedures and technologies for land, sea, and air border management. More than 40 presenters represent key stakeholders.
