Ninth National Court Technology Conference to be Held in September

Includes special sessions on court security

The Ninth National Court Technology Conference, CTC9, which is dedicated to court technology, is being held Sept. 13 -- 15 in Seattle at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

Hosted by the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), CTC9 brings together more than 2,000 judges, court administrators, attorneys, technology professionals and others from around the world to find solutions to improve their courts. CTC also features one of the largest court technology exhibitor shows, with more than 100 vendors. CTC9 sponsors include Maximus and EDS.

Recognizing the need for improved court security, this year's conference has taken special efforts to incorporate an educational track that addresses court security needs. Other featured tracks include technology implementation, court policy and management issues, and court technology and courtroom issues.

CTC9 features include
  • More than 30 educational sessions on topics from e-filing to integrated justice to how to manage a software development process; plus, an international program sponsored by Maximus featuring the best technology from four continents;
  • A portable Courtroom 21, the high-tech courtroom developed by NCSC and the College of William & Mary;
  • The Justice Integration Net, sponsored by Microsoft, demonstrates what's possible in justice integration;
  • Special Interest Group Sessions address issues from public access policies regarding Internet access to court records, to court performance standards, to distance learning for court professionals.

CTC9 keynote speakers include
  • Sen. Slade Gorton, 9/11 Commissioner on Court Security.
  • Stephen Goldsmith, former mayor of Indianapolis and author of Governing by Network. Goldsmith will present a roadmap for how to deliver critical public services in a newly networked world.
