Liz Rodgers will re-enter the public sector and become the third chief information officer for the city of Lexington, Ky.

Rodgers, a native of Frankfort, has been serving in a program management position at Wisconsin-based Connexus Credit Union. Prior to that, she served in IT offices in Kentucky state agencies such as the Commonwealth Office of Technology, the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, and the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.

“My team and I are dedicated to providing our government workforce with technology that is readily available, operates securely and efficiently, and supports their mission to serve,” said Rodgers in a statement. “As the demand for technology-enabled interactions with local government continues to grow, we’re also looking forward to exploring new opportunities to reinforce our connection to the community.”

Rodgers succeeds Aldona Valicenti, who has held the position since 2012. Valicenti plans to re-enter the private sector as a consultant, according to a city press release. Valicenti was instrumental in leading projects to expand fiber communications technologies, urban tech and other modernizations.

Rodgers brings her 20 years of experience to the job of managing Lexington’s digital infrastructure, and will be an asset for the city, said Mayor Linda Gorton.

“She is committed to customer service and continuous improvement, and so are we,” said Gorton in a statement.
