President Bush Signs Homeland Security Directive

December 17, 2003 By

President Bush signed a landmark homeland security directive today. The directive calls for the homeland security secretary to coordinate with state and local officials in maintaining and upgrading activities for the following critical infrastructure sectors: information technology, telecommunications, chemical and transportation systems.

The secretary will also continue to maintain an organization to serve as a focal point for the security of cyberspace.

This directive supercedes all past homeland security directives.
