The organization, which launched in 2019, is collecting submissions for the challenges through April 28 — an extension from the original deadline. The challenges are:
- Raleigh, N.C.: Help people build accessory dwelling units, especially in the area of securing loans and grants. One submission will be awarded $5,000 and a pilot project.
- Grand Rapids, Mich.: Improve the process of registering as a women- or minority-owned business, ease the tracking and reporting of those registrants and ensure that they are notified of contracting opportunities.
- Las Vegas: Assist homeless people in finding and applying for housing by improving communications between applicants, caseworkers and landlords.
- Peoria, Ill.: Empower downtown revival by mapping existing real estate, potential opportunities, surveying stakeholders on improvements and more.
- Irmo, S.C.: Provide detailed information about properties and their owners for both internal and external users. The city has a budget of up to $20,000 for a pilot project.
