Bombardier Launches SEKURFLO Rail Security Solution in North America

Growing list of transit operators select Intelligent Rail Security System.

Bombardier Transportation has announced the North American launch of its SEKURFLO intelligent rail security product line during the American Public Transportation Association's 2007 Rail Conference in Toronto.Bombardier and March Networks, a leading supplier of IP-based video surveillance solutions, are collaborating to deliver the new line of advanced on-board, mobile security solutions specifically developed for the passenger rail market. Bombardier and March Networks announced a joint design and development agreement in September 2006 and are securing commitments to deploy the SEKURFLO system with rail transit agencies around the world.

The SEKURFLO product line offers a range of transit security packages that provide progressively advanced audio and video surveillance capabilities, security event recording, and integrated security event management features. Base packages offer onboard recording with manual downloading of data. More advanced packages provide fully integrated onboard-to-wayside monitoring in real time. Advanced system intelligence enables detection of security situations and automatic alerts to wayside security resources. SEKURFLO equipment is specifically designed to meet the unique demands of a mobile rail transit environment with improved reliability, maintainability and serviceability.

"A growing number of transit agencies are selecting SEKURFLO as a security solution designed especially for rail applications," said William Spurr, president, Bombardier Transportation -- North America. "The importance of effective public transit security in this day and age cannot be understated, and the industry needs solutions that are tailored to fit the unique needs of rail transport. Market reaction to this product has been very positive, and we look forward to finalizing agreements with transit agencies here in the future."
