According to Airspan Networks, Inc., DBD Deutsche Breitband Dienste GmbH ("DBD") of Germany has ordered an additional 500 WiMAX base stations as well as a significant number of subscriber terminals.

DBD, Germany's first and largest WiMAX operator, provides broadband access services using Airspan's WiMAX technology in the 3.5GHz band, for both residential and enterprise customers. DBD has now rolled out services in more than forty networks, the largest deployment being in Berlin, where subscribers enjoy the freedom of wireless Internet access at highly competitive prices.

In addition, DBD is one of the first operators to deploy Airspan's VoiceMAX technology on a WiMAX network. VoiceMAX gives operators the ability to deliver carrier-grade VoIP services through a software suite that provides VoIP admission control, which monitors the user experience of voice calls over WiMAX networks. VoiceMAX enables wireless operators to prevent network congestion and prevents data traffic from degrading voice quality as the network is loaded with IP traffic. With VoiceMAX, DBD can guarantee high quality and consistent voice services to its subscribers at any time.

"This additional commitment from DBD demonstrates Airspan's leading position in delivering voice and data WiMAX solutions that are reliable and easily deployable. Airspan's WiMAX products have allowed DBD to strengthen its leadership in rolling out WiMAX broadband infrastructure in Germany," said Eric Stonestrom, Airspan's president and chief executive officer.

Commenting on the transaction, Fabio Zoffi, founder and chief executive officer of DBD, said "Airspan has delivered proven quality WiMAX products to DBD that have allowed our network and our subscriber base to grow extremely fast. With the recent introduction of a bundled service including high quality voice services (VoIP), we expect even more customers to enjoy the freedom offered by wireless, all IP, communication over our WiMAX networks."

DBD Deutsche Breitband Dienste GmbH is a telecommunications company operating across Germany. As a pioneer of the WiMAX wireless broadband access technology, DBD provides residential customers and SMEs with easy-to-use and inexpensive high-speed wireless Internet access and voice services. Supported by its strategic investor Intel, DBD operates wireless networks in both metropolitan areas (under the MAXXonair brand) and rural areas (under the DSLonair brand) across Germany. The company was founded in August 2003 and its headquarters are located in Heidelberg, Germany.
