First Russian Internet Portal Rambler.Ru Offers Mobile Email

Only 5 percent of the Russian population has broadband access, so cell based mobile email is an important service.

Rambler.Ru portal, one of the largest Russian Internet services and Email provider, has chosen Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email as their strategic mobile email platform. Rambler will offer mobile email, calendar, contacts and task synchronization services, powered by Nokia Intellisync technology, to its more than 20 million subscribers of Mail.Rambler.Ru. The service will be available as standard application during the second half of 2007. In Russia, only 5 percent of the population has broadband access which makes mobile email communication an important service for many residents. The Russian telecommunication market is one of the world's fastest growing markets with a penetration of more than 100 percent, meaning that consumers are starting to use more than one SIM card.

"To answer the huge demand for mobile email in Russia in the long term, we needed a scalable platform that would be able to support a variety of devices -- both smartphones and lower-end mobile devices with limited memory," said Dmitry Pleshakov, director of the Rambler portal. "Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email, with its support for more than 100 different devices in addition to the Nokia Eseries portfolio gave us the scalability, security and fast route to market that we were looking for."

The integration of Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email solution into Rambler.Ru's services portfolio is handled by Borlas Consulting Group. Borlas, one of the leading consulting groups in application consulting and integration in Russia, specializes in large business projects with IT-components in the region.
