Adopting the Hatteras' Mid-Band Ethernet solution to serve business and enterprise customers over twisted-pair copper readily complements Silver Star Telecom's existing Ethernet offerings over DS1 and DS3 circuits and to fiber-connected locations. Silver Star Telecom provides this Ethernet service to single-site locations within its copper footprint, and can connect multiple local area networks (LANs) across metro boundaries to create wide area network (WAN) connectivity.
"Our initial Ethernet deployment with Hatteras Networks in the Portland area has been highly successful and very well-received by our wholesale and enterprise customers," explained Clint Warta, president and founder of Silver Star Telecom. "Hatteras Networks' carrier-class Mid-Band Ethernet solutions enable us to provide Ethernet and IP services in excess of 36Mbps symmetrical to customer locations without access to fiber. This new service is a huge benefit to those business customers who desire advanced Ethernet services but have been previously constrained by existing copper facilities."
Engaged in strategic deployments throughout the Pacific Northwest, Silver Star Telecom offers its customers a full line of services, including Internet access, Private Line Services and metropolitan area networks (MANs). Hatteras Networks' HN4000 and HN400 products provide both VPN and QoS capabilities for prioritized voice, video and data applications. The Hatteras platform enables Silver Star Telecom to extend the reach of native Ethernet services with speeds of 5Mbps and higher to business locations lacking direct access to fiber. In addition, Silver Star can now provide backhaul services for WiMAX, ISPs and large enterprises, furthering expanding its service portfolio.
