Survey Shows Free Wi-Fi Increases Sales and Builds Customer Loyalty for Businesses

84% surveyed were more willing to purchase from businesses that offer free Wi-Fi service, 96% would return again.

A survey more than 1,000 Wi--Fi users in 6 European countries brought to light 4 key factors that clearly prove businesses benefit from providing free wireless Internet access to their clientele.

The survey, conducted by free-hotspot.com, which operates Europe's largest network of free hotspots, discovered:

- 84% of respondents said they were more willing to purchase goods and services from businesses that offered a free Wi-Fi service
- Almost all users (96%) said they would return to the hotspot location because of the free Wi-Fi
- Half the Wi-Fi users surveyed came to the hotspot location specifically for the free Wi-Fi
- The remaining half were 'regular' customers of the establishment

"These statistics reconfirm existing market studies that show locations offering free Wi-Fi attract a broad and highly profitable client base", said Joe Brunoli, vice president, HotSpot market development for free-hotspot.com. "The fact that 50% of those questioned were already regular customers of the free hotspot location also proves that such a service meets the needs of existing clientele. Creating a sense of loyalty in both new and existing customers cannot help but increase footfall and therefore sales", he concluded.
