CDC expected to relax indoor mask guidance

Yo Yo Masking

At this writing, the Centers for Disease Control are expected to revise its masking guidance to ease when and wear masks should be worn indoors.

This comes, of course, after many Republican and Democratic governors have already acted to revise mask mandates or will do so very soon. This loosening of requirements is generally being well received by people.

The general "sense" is that we are moving from being in a pandemic to dealing with an endemic disease. The only wild card I can think of is a new variant for which our current vaccines are not as effective. Putting the "unmasked Genie" back in the bottle will be difficult in the future. Although, I do think some standards for being in crowed indoor spaces will change with more people wearing a mask, since they have gotten use to using them and liking the protection they provide.

It would also appear that a fourth booster will be forthcoming, perhaps in time for the fall of 2022. I have heard in the past that it is possible to combine a flu shot with a COVID booster, but more than likely that will be a two-dose regime.
