Is the Coronavirus Done With Us?

The CDC Director was talking like it is, but...

While 1,291 people died on March 13th, the rest of the establishment is acting like the pandemic is over for good. People are tired of the restrictions, politicians are reacting to lower case counts and the arrival of spring, and everyone, including me, would just like to go back to the way it was before this mess started two years ago.

I saw this piece on TV where researchers at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) were saying they were not seeing any new variants or changes to the Omicron variant. OK, how about in India? How about the slums of San Paulo? How about in Africa? All places where vaccination rates remains very low, allowing for the spread of the virus and opportunities for it to mutate again.

Who me, be pessimistic? I only know the virus has thrown us curve balls in the past and with the start of the baseball season at hand, maybe there is a knuckle ball variant in our future. It is not beyond the realm of possibility.
